Little Fat Footsies
Monday, July 30th, 2007Greg, Kate, and I have loved having Grammy here for a whole week! Mom and I played lots of tennis, took Kate to the pool, shopped (several times:), planted more flowers, and just loved being together all week. Kate was completely excited and wired with Grammy here! I’m guessing we’ll have a couple Kate-recovery days now that Mom has gotten on the plane to head back home…
A couple of our shopping excursions included a search for shoes to fit Kate — not an easy task these days. Right before summer started, I bought her a couple of pairs of Stride Rite sandals in a size 4 Wide (WIDE being the key word). They fit her perfectly — that was THEN. She can basically only wear Stride Rite shoes, because she has such a fat little foot and few brands make a wide width. Recently, I’ve been holding out hope that the shoes I already bought could last the whole summer, but the last few weeks we haven’t been able get her fat little feet into these seemingly skinny little shoes (even though they are wides).
So, to the rescue came Grammy. She and I hit several Stride Rite stores in the area (most sold out of wides!). Today, on the way to the airport, we finally found the winner — a size 5 1/2 DOUBLE WIDE! That’s right…not regular wide…not even EXTRA wide (which is the next level of wide-ness)…but one and a half sizes and two width sizes later, we found shoes that fit. Apparently, Kate had a growth spurt this summer!!
