The Sweetness of the Simple Things
There are many times I watch my husband at work as a Daddy with our girls, and I am overwhelmed with gratefulness to God for him. He is so hands-on, involved, competent, affectionate, tender, and fun-loving with them. There are moments when I remember to reach for my camera to capture the simple things in our home. Even though it’s no “special” occasion, I realize that there is a sweetness to so many of the daily moments with our girls. For example, Greg has developed a bedtime routine with Kate over the years that is very special and fun to her - it’s largely become “their” time. It has been fun recently to watch Ella start to join in with them. Our Big Picture Story Bible literally has both the front and back covers completely torn off from all of the stories that have been read countless times in the evenings. Kate has LOVED those stories - and we love that she is learning the great story of creation, the fall, and redemption through Christ each night. After a story and a brief prayer time, they sing hymns together. Kate LOVES hymns, and it has been amazing to see how quickly she can learn the verses to them. We love that she enjoys singing hymns so much, and though she may not understand now the meaning of what she is singing - we hope that with each passing year we can continue to teach her and help her to unpack all of those truths she sings. Enjoy some shots of bedtime one evening a couple of weeks ago. Greg thought I was a little odd pulling out my camera for the routine of bedtime, but I couldn’t resist!
