Deception

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

I recently got a new cookbook called Deceptively Delicious. My all-star sister-in-law, Cara, told me about it. I’m typically not one for new cookbooks. I usually get a little overwhelmed with all the new ideas and want to stay with the good, predictable meals that I already know are tasty. However, this one is quite different. The whole cookbook has recipes that include pureed vegetables in them so you can cook meals for your family that are very nutritious without them knowing it! For example, I made a whole wheat pizza this week with pureed spinach spread all over the crust under the sauce. Kate loved it and had no idea I had deceived her into eating spinach! Last night I made chocolate chip cookies with chickpeas in them, and they were GREAT. I also made a great macaroni and cheese recipe (one has butternut squash and cauliflower in it!). This book is a keeper. Find it! Barnes & Noble had in on sale last week. And if any of you have tried other recipes in the book, let me know what’s good! So far, I’m convinced everything is. And here are a couple pics of where you’ll find Kate each night after dinner…
